I didn't know cats would like to taste dripping water from faucets.
Pumpkin (the cat-who-walked-in-on us) jumps up on sinks to sample. I
have stiches in one ankle which makes showers impossible right now so
I washed my hair in the bathroom sink. Nearly cracked my head on the
faucet when a wet nose went in my ear and the prrrrrrrrpw plainly said
"Whatcha' doing? Can I help? Is soap tasty?" Now I shut the bathroom
door and ignore the complaints.
Nan, friend of big orange tabby who drives me nuts.

I've owned a coupla cats who would drink water *only* from the faucet.
Sometimes I pondered installing a drinking fountain and teaching them to
operate it.

our cats prefer drinking from the tap on the tub. 3 of our last 4 have.
I'd like to find an automatic tap --infrared or something (for less than
$250) so we would not have to turn it on and off all the time.
One of ours also loves to dump the water dish (a very heavy one with
plastitac on the bottom to prevent her from tipping it over) over and spread
it all over the kitchen. She digs and runs and slides. This was when she was
a kitten but she still does it:

I turn on the faucet in the bathroom to warm it up when I wash up in the
morning and my kitten gets up on the sink and will drink and wash there
until I get ready to wash up myself...
Glad it isn't as crazy as I had thought...

My tuxedo cat, Penguin (14 pounder 1.5 yrs old) doesn't drink water from the
dish by lapping. He dips his paw in the water and sucks the water out of
his paw. He also grooms himself at the water dish (before the other cats
use it, of course - I change it after he uses it).
Sometimes, esp if I happy to be home in the afternoon, he will go into the
upstairs bathtub and meow until I come and put a half-inch or so of water
for him to play in. I have some old bath toys of the kids' that he bats
around. It's hilarious!!

My cat drinks from the faucet all the time. She jumps up on the counter and
pats at the faucet with her paw, trying to turn it on so she can drink.
