I was just wondering if smelling cat poop was really harmful to
humans?

It's an idea I had for the 2nd stunt of that show on NBC hosted by Joe
Rogan, where reality show contestants compete for the big prize of
$25,000.

The 2nd stunt would involve the contestants having their heads
enclosed in a small glass cube.  Then cat poops would be dropped in
the cubes next to their heads and the winner would be the person that
taps out last.

So is this do-able?

Humans catch illnesses from animal feces by oral contact--i.e., one
would have to put the feces in one's mouth, or handle the feces (or
anything containing said fecal matter) and then put one's fingers in
one's mouth or on one's lips without cleansing them. That said, there
might be airborne diseases one could contract from cat feces, but I'm
not aware of any.

Only if you are in there a long long time and gas build up (methane and CO2)
from bacteria caused a problem would it be "harmful". Perhaps if it's litter
with poop and pee you might get ammonia (which would burn the eyes and
nostrils).

Cat poop is less nasty than human or dog in my opinion... but for a harmless
stunt it's a good challenge.

Considering the odourus bombs my fuzzies are capable of producing, I'd bet
the average person taps out after two or three at most.
