Today, Ozy (adult male - neutered as a kitten) came into the computer
room and jumped into my lap - nothing unusual in that - then he turned
around, vibrated his butt, and sprayed me with something.  Then he
quietly got down and walked away.

I think he was aiming for my face, but he got my neck and shirt.

He's normally a very affectionate cat.

What did it smell of?

If urine, the strange behaviour could be a sign of difficulty
urinating, in which case get him checked out for crystals or impending
blockage.  Or at least closely watch his urination habits and see if
there is anything new or different.  If he repeatedly vibrates his
backside when peeing, or trying to pee, that's an indication to check
him out.

Very unusual for a housetrained cat to do that directly on you, but
maybe he really was trying to give you a message....directly!

Good luck.

I knew somebody would ask that.  Unfortunately, my head and nose were
completely stuffed up - I'm not sure I could have smelled a skunk.

I had him checked recently - no urine problems, but that doesn't
meannothing now.

Yeah, I guess it's off to the vet again for him.
