Dee adores Earth's Best Summer Vegetables and some of their other
vegetarian products.  Of course he loves meat.  But he also loves
veggies.  That's good!

My kitty likes some veggies and fruits.  Not too hot on meat...but started
eating tuna just lately
Matthew - 25 Feb 2007 04:53 GMT
be warned about baby foods some contain onion powder which is dangerous for
cats

why do you think that it is good that your cat loves veggies?  A cat is an
obligate (strict) carnivore.  It does not have the necessary biological
functions to processes veggies.

This is why I hate the new Fancy Feast foods.  They promote the 'fact' that
cats "need veggies".. but if you really listen to their ads, you'll see they
are pandering to the public who doesn't know any better, who have been
taught for years that veggies are good for humans, so there for they MUST be
good for cats.

They aren't.

Veggies aren't even necessarily good for humans....After all, their food
value comes from starches, since they contain no fats or protein. You can
easily substitute a vitamin pill for the good they do you.....Most people
get them in pizzas and hamburgers nowadays, anyway........

I think you're both wrong.  My cat gets "plenty" of protein.  He's
polishing off some chicken livers even as I type.  I wouldn't be so
crazy as to put him on a vegetarian diet----he'd die, but cats can
successfully digest both starches and vegetable matter.

And Dee dotes on vegetables.  I'm glad he does, because they provide
him with anti-oxidants, which are absent from meat.

Humans can do great on a vegetarian diet.  Our body, in fact, is far
better designed for vegetarianism than heavy meat-eating.  I'm not by
any means a total vegetarian, but neither of you have your facts
straight.

Humans can survive as vegetarians, but it is very difficult, and most of the
ones I know, are sickly all the time, and/or have migraine headaches that
refuse to go away until they eventually eat that big steak dinner at some
future date. As to cats, I really don't know....I never said that eating
veggies is bad for cats....Only that I don't think it's particularly good
for them. I give my cats anything they want....They climb up on our dining
room table while we are eating, and eat whatever they want right off of our
plates. If they wanted the veggies, they would be welcome to them, but
usually, they only taste what we are eating, "just to be polite" and then
jump down and go for their kibbles.......

I'm sorry, but that is completely disgusting.
Oh Fluffy you just licked your a.s with that tongue?  Oh that's okay, have
some of my dinner.  Not.

Cat's mouths are much cleaner than that of humans, and the germs they do
have are much less likely to thrive and grow inside humans. But, to each
his/her own. In general, I prefer cats to humans anyway, and that includes
the inside of their mouths......

I'd be more concerned with dirt from paws.
I've never seen a cat wipe its feet
before jumping on to the table.

I say, if it makes you happy, go ahead.

That's true....Their paws are something else. But our cats are very polite.
The keep their paws out of the food. They are very hesitant to eat our food,
even though we don't discourage them. And, when we have dinner guests, they
keep off the table without us having to tell them to. Even the feral cat is
unbelievably polite....Of course, when we have guests, he is nowhere to be
seen.......

I see nothing wrong with that.  In fact if you check out one of my
pages at http://users.ameritech.net/lestark/page2.htm you will see
them on the microwave, in the cupboard, going accross the sink, in the
linen closet.

An yes they always check out what is on my plate although they don't
like it mostly but they still have to check it out.

I am a bit like the most of you...My thought is, what you do in your own
home (with your cats...within legal limits) is your own business. My 7 are
like my kids...when company comes, they are to be on their best behavior.

The only real problem we have is with their tails....My cats don't seem to
know where their tales have been, or where they are now, or where they will
be in the future....So, they are likely to drag their tails through your
soup if you don't watch out for them....:^)

Well that puts you out of contention, for starters.

My hand in your pocket?  I doubt it - it's too full of your own
self-importance for anyone else to get so much as a look-in.  Faggot?
Well, it's good to see that you have kicked the closet door open at last
and recognise your own kind.  Had you taken that step earlier in your
purposeless existence, you wouldn't have had all those years of angst and
anguish living in terror that your secret would be exposed.

Not in this lifetime.

You'll have to wait, and develop a taste for necrophilia.  Sorry.
