We have two cats. One is about 11 months old and the other
one was recently adopted from my friend's home. We were
told that the new comer is 1 years old. However his manner
looks so different from our kitten. He is a strong and huge guy
but behaves himeself very much gentally. He seldom show
strong interests to anything. His color is black spot in white
but the white part does not looks bright and fresh. I just doubt
that he can be only one years old. He looks like at his senior
age. But how can we know that? The cat does not come up
with any document.

Can you look at his teeth? Do you see any tartar? A one-year-old cat will
usually have very white teeth, not worn down at all.

When you take him to the vet, the vet can tell you approximately how old the
cat is by examining his teeth. The vet might not be able to tell you the cat's
precise age, but can definitely tell a one-year old cat from an alter kocker.

Older cats tend to "bald" on the tips of their ears as well; a young cat
will typically have a good covering of hair to the tips of the ears,
sometimes ending in a small lynx like tuft, as they age the hair thins and
really old cats tend to have quite a skin like rather than fur like feel to
the tops of their ears.

Teeth inspection is the best way to tell though and a vet should be able to
give you a good estimate!
