We have a cat who was abused as a kitten. He was found in a toilet where
someone had attempted to flush him. Anyway, he got the name Kujo after
biting a vet. He is the only cat that actually stood up to me face to face
and wanted to fight after I pulled him down from a curtain rod. I really
didn't like him. A few days later I saw him licking and nurturing two of the
kittens and I decided he was a good cat and that I needed to try to make
friends. I picked him up and carried him a few feet when he was in a good
mood. After he let me carry him far enough to get him to a place where I
could feed him by himself with a kind of wet cat food that he liked,
everything changed. He's gotten roudy once in 6 months and we made up right
away. He sleeps next to me at the head of the bed and I have to put my hand
over my head because he licks my hair so much. I call him spot sometimes
because he is so much like a dog, always there, never aloof, and grateful.

Well, you are going about it correctly.....Many animals have learned from
birth to not trust humans, and it is sometimes very difficult to overcome
that early training....It takes patience, and always being kind to them,
even when they bite you or scratch you.....If you always return nothing but
kindness, then they will eventually come around....I think that they have to
learn to think that you aren't really a human being, but are actually a cat
like they are.....

One of our cats really treats me like a cat including making nice and
snuggling and then biting me on the nose, not hard but it hurts ... if I had
fur it wouldn't but he doesn't know that. He wants attention and since he
thinks I'm a cat he doesn't mind using cat behavior to get it. It hurts but
makes me laugh.

Yeah....I have psoriasis, and my skin on the lower arms and the back of my
hands is really thin and bleeds easily....My cats are always drawing blood,
but they don't realize that It's really a special problem with me.....I am
used to it. When it happens I run to get my glocosometer and measure my
blood sugar...(I have diabetes also)

I use a lot of that germ killing hand washing stuff. They hardly ever break
the skin.
