Hi.  I need some advice.

Our cat is a spayed female, five years old, and an "only" cat.  She
stays indoors except for when my husband takes her for a walk around
the yard on a leash.

Her litter box is in one end of the tub in the spare bathroom.  About
six months ago I started using the Feline Pine litter and she took to
it right away, for which I was grateful, because there is no more
urine odor at all.

All of a sudden she won't poop in her box.  She pees in it just fine,
but poops at the other end of the tub.  She has never done either
anywhere else in the house.  I keep the box very clean.

I tried washing the pooping place with a lemon-scented cleaner, since
cats are not supposed to like the smell of lemons but that didn't
help.  I know they don't like to poop where they eat, so I actually
put some of her dry food in the tub but all she did was eat it up
first and then poop in the same spot.

I don't know what her problem is; there have been no changes in the
household, no extra company or anything like that.  She is very
healthy.

Any suggestions?  I am thinking of putting some of her poop in the
litter box so she gets an idea of where it belongs, except that in the
past she wouldn't poop in there if there was already a poopy in the
box -- she would just hold it until it was scooped.

What about putting the box at the other end of the tub?

Hello,

I use a combination of the scoopable gravel and the pine.  I find that
of all the things I tried, this works best.  Maybe, having the
familiar gravel will make her realize that her box is where she needs
to go.  Also, this might sound mean, but if you put an inch of water
in the tub, this might teach her not to use it.

Regards,
C
