We are building a fence in our yard to keep our cat inside. We don't
want him to jump over it. How high should we make it? He is very strong
but also very heavy.

I'm 6'5".
Was brushing my teeth the other day and the cat wanted to go out.
Figured I'd finish brushing (standing straight up, not bent over).
Wham!... The cat had leapt at me from the rear, landing on my shoulders... no
problem.... So I'd figure a 6' fence wouldn't even slow that particular cat
down.
My guess is that once the fence is behind the animal's jumping ability, the
cat's ability to get a grip and climb the rest of the way becomes an issue.

Yeah.....I'd make it 8 feet tall, with the top two feet made out of
Teflon......My young male (three years old) can jump unbelievable distances,
and he has seemingly no fear of heights......

Our cat jumped into a window in our shed at
1.5 m (5 feet), to get into or out of the house.
