So it's been a while since I posted. My cat is more evil than ever. He
simply hates people and just about everyone, a lot of the time he
doesn't even like me.

So, his shedding is crazy so that I can't even buy nice bedding. I buy
cheap Wal-Mart sets to sleep on because he sheds all over them.

I bought a Fulminator at Pet smart earlier. It took off a lot of fur;
unfortunately, I was unable to complete the task as Zeitgeist growled,
hissed, jumped, clawed/raked into my skin the entire arm. I think I'm
going to have permanent scaring now. This guy is insane.

He runs and hisses at anyone who isn't me. Plain and simple -- a savage.

Truthfully, I would feel so bad finding another home for him because he
loves me (I think) but mostly because as savage and mean as he is I want
him to have a fulfilled and happy life. I don't want to give him to a
shelter and he be killed.

He is a beautiful cat, and everyone says so. Perhaps we don't get along.

If anyone is in the Tennessee area and will adopt a cat, please say so.
I'd drive a long way away to visit a home. Or does anyone have any
suggestions? I'm in Knoxville and Nashville, Tennessee. Or at least give
me advice on the situation.

You can advertise for free at Craigslist.  For Tennesee, the url is:
http://geo.craigslist.org/iso/us/tn
That page will show several cities in TN where you can post.
When you place your ad, you can also upload several pictures

I don't know how I should "advertise." I mean, I don't want to have him
be settled in a new family and then be given away or killed. I would not
be able to live with myself after that!

I guess I should look for a family and not someone who is single. But
also, I don't know if it is ethical to place this burden on someone
else...

I feel so bad, I looked on the side I used the comb with and it does
look like it really hurt him. I see Red. I will need to use it much less
if at all again.

Humane Society of TN is in Knoxville and is a "no kill" shelter. I think
I may take him there, so he not going to be killed.

I don't know if you are male or female, but our feral cat just loves my wife
all to pieces, and although he doesn't bite me, he is totally indifferent to
me....When my wife goes down to California to visit her grandchildren for a
week or so, he just goes into hibernation mode, and does nothing but eat &
sleep, and has no interaction with me at all. But when she comes back home,
he follows her around like a puppy dog, and just loves it when she picks him
up and carries him around.....So, maybe you should try letting your cat live
with some lady friend for a while.....His personality might change
drastically.........

I bought a furminator, and tried it on all six of my cats.  Despite a
promise that cats love it, not one of mine did!!  I immediately returned it.

You didn't mention if the kitty is long or short haired.  Long haired, you
might want to consider getting a "Lion Cut".  It is where they shave the
entire cat down, and leave the head and a bit on the tail, the kitty looks a
lot like a lion.  You can do it on a short haired cat too, it just isn't as
dramatic :D  Short haired cats tend to shed more (in my experience)  I like
plain ol black combs for combing them.  I have one kitty (long haired) who
HATES to be groomed, so I bought a muzzle for him.  I make it as quick as I
can.  I tried going very slow (highly recommended for cats who don't like
it)  and grooming small sections when he was asleep.  worked for a little
bit, but then he'd wake up and smack some of my other kitties around.  (he's
VERY grumpy in general)

Bathing cats can reduce shedding - but it sounds like that might cause more
scares on ya..

An appropriate diet should help with shedding too.  Is he eating a low carb,
high protein diet?  all dry foods are way too high in carbs, and too low in
protein.  Check out www.catinfo.org for more info on how diet can help a cat
be more healthy

ZG,

It's so hard for me to have sympathy for you with the history of things
you said about your cat. I would imagine he can pick up on your vibes --
cats are pretty smart about things like that.

You said previously that your cat was filthy and had a dirty face and
you didn't want it putting it's dirt all over, things that just
astonished me. I guess I'm tired of hearing about what a horrible cat
you have. You have made him sound like the devil personified, but he's
just a cat.

Whatever you decide, please don't ever get another animal. It won't be
able to make you happy, I can assure you.

Rhonda

I wonder if your cat was a stray cat like mine.  Mine just adores to be
stroked and petted but has some peculiar habits.  Its odd that your
cat's  fur is shedding in the wintertime. Maybe its his diet.   I feed
my cat dry Eukanuba but may have to switch to wet cat food because he
might be constipated.  Do you have to brush him with a Fulminator
Brush?  If it made him bleed well throw that thing out.  You can use
scotch tape sort of or a comb.  My cat's  peculiar habit is that he
sometimes gets bored when I put the light out to go to sleep and he
attacks my feet through the quilt with his fangs and does a
interminable dance with his claws and refuses to leave the room.  That
is more insane than your cat.  When I push him out of the bed he yells
blue murder and I have to get a broom to get him out of the room.  The
next morning he is a perfect little sweet pea.
