It's extremely difficult to tame a feral kitten after the age of four
months. I've tried it several times over the years and it never works.
Three months, yes. Most kittens are weaned after two months, so that
would be the ideal time to trap and train a new feral kitten.

It depend though, on what you call "tame." If you want a perfectly
social lap cat, then you're right.
Our Sweeter was about 6-8 mos. old. She only comes out at night and is
afraid of noises and light, but we accept her as she is. She is very
loving and loves to be petted. There are certain times of the day though
that you just won't see her.
If we would have left her outside, she'd be dead now.

You can tame a feral cat of any age, but it takes a great deal of patience,
especially if you can't trap them in the house, but let them remain outdoor
cats....We have one, but it took about three years, and even today, he
splits whenever any stranger comes to the door, and only allows my wife and
I to get near him. However, if you can trap the cat(s) inside your house,
then they will tame fairly quickly.....The younger the better,
however.......
