Wanted to share this amusing little snippet about one of my cats and
daylight saving......
Here in Western Australia daylight saving was introduced for the first time
very recently, and on Saturday night the 2nd of December we had to put our
clocks forward one hour.
One of our cats Rosie (a 3 year old Calico) is a real little smartypants.
Rosie and our younger cat Bonnie (the one that looks like she swallowed a
bowling ball!!), are always kept indoors from about 4 pm until first light
the next day.
The usual ritual with Rosie has been, at the break of day - which
pre-daylight-saving at this time of the year was around 5 am - to wake us
up by running over our pillows, and removing things from the bedside table
by picking them up in her teeth and dropping them to the floor e.g.
earrings, pens etc. This is invariably very successful at making me get up
(husband Pete doesn't hear a thing!), and I then grudgingly and grumpily get
up and unlock the cat door so the cats can go outdoors.
We had always THOUGHT Rosie's day was governed by the break of dawn, the
first sounds of bird-calls etc....... but it now appears that she is CAPABLE
OF READING THE TIME ON THE WALL CLOCK in the kitchen!!!
On Monday morning she woke me when the clock showed 5 am (which is REALLY 4
am..... in TRUE time)........ and she had to wait another hour before it was
light enough for me to unlock the cat door!....... and every morning this
week the same thing has happened!!....now what do you think of that eh? (I
hope she's smart enough to cotton-on to the fact that we are on daylight
saving time - or maybe this is Rosie's own personal protest against the
whole concept of daylight saving - along with many other members of our
community!)

Well that's a good one. Maybe she got shifted by one
hour on account of her food and other schedules being
shifted by one hour. Or perhaps because of your
schedule, her bedtime was shifted back one hour
so she woke up early?
Or maybe she can tell time! You never know with
those calicos!!
