For those of you with multi-cat households that include at least one tuxedo,
do you find that the tuxedos are more playful and rambunctious than other
cats?

We have 5 cats, 3 of which are tuxedos.  Our tabby and bobtail are much more
sedate.

I have two cats, one of which is a tuxedo and he is a maniac (which I love).
He is extremely talkative and barely ever sleeps because he is running all
over the place.  He is only 1 so I was not sure if this was from his age, but
I hope it sticks with him because he is so much fun to watch.

That's been our experience with our 3 tuxedos.  They range in age frm 1-1/2
to 2 years, so I guess the playfulness continues. :-)  We love their antics
and their constant activity.

I have two, one tuxedo and one mackerel tabby, M and F respectively.
If there's going to be a "disagreement" 99 percent of the time, the
tabby starts it. OTOH, Xedo (you can take a guess as to which one he
is) is very playful and likes to race around when he's not sleeping on
me. Tuxedos have great, sweet personalities!

Interesting...  I agree, our tuxedos have the same type of personalities.
Our tabby is also a  macckerel tabby.  His personality has always been
rather quiet and laid back, but he seems to idolize me.  When we adopted
the first two tuxedos (brothers) as kittens, he adopted them as well,
watching over them, grooming, them, and cuddling with them.

Awwww...sweet kit! But my F mackerel almost always initiates the
chase!

The only Tuxedo I have owned has been a regal stuck up snobby cat who
was very independent, the greatest hunter on the planet and tough as
nails. He was also unbelievably loyal and had an efficiency of movement
that I have never seen in another cat. His name was Wellington.

I remember at one point he actually adopted another cat which ended up
staying with us. I remember for a few days he stopped eating all his
food in the evening which was something he never did, one night I walked
into the kitchen to find him licking a rake thin, injured tabby cat,
probably about nine months old and encouraging it it eat out of his
bowl. This happened for a few nights and he wouldn't allow us near the
kitten, after a while we started putting too bowls down and McNab became
a regular fixture of the house.

When Wellington was about 10 years old we found him lying in the corner
of the one room and his hind leg was hideously disfigured, it looked
like it was actually dipped in acid (Of course we took him to the vet
and he made a full recovery), the next day we found the 10 foot
boomslang (A highly venomous snake with cytotoxic venom.) Wellington had
killed which had obviously managed to bit his leg during the battle. The
boomslang was in a bush that us children always used to play around.

Another one of his traits was killing huge cane rats about his own size,
dragging them to our back door and miawing until I came out and took
them away. It had to be me who took them away (He'd get aggressive if
any other member of the family tried to take the rat.). I guess he felt
he wasn't going to mooch off us and he was providing his share of the
food around the place.

That was my first cat and I've been a cat lover since...
