I finally found a collar that fits Woodgie, my kitten. She doesn't like
it much, but only goes through a bit of struggle with it when it first
goes on. I've taken it off at night. I wonder - do you take collars off
at night? I want Woodgie to get used to a collar so that she can wear
her tags if she goes outside. I'd also like to get her used to a harness
so she could be put on a lead outside...A book I read says it is
possible with patience and persistence...:-\

Don't remove at night  My Ka'Shay  raised holy hell about having a collar
and a bell on  lasted about 5 hours  now wants to know why I removed her
collar to replace it because she wears them out to quickly with her
wrestling around with Spirit.

Make sure it is a safety collar with a good release on it

The book answered your own question  Remember the phrase patience is a
virtue :-)

I personally do not like collars and I was once told that fleas can breed
underneath them, I had my cat Diego on a harness when he was a kitten out in
the garden in the summer.  I would not let him out on his own until he was
castrated.

We use livestrong bands and beastie bands.  They both work great. The cats
don't seem to mind them as they are lightweight.  Only problem with
livestrong bands is when the cats fight (play) they sometimes cut them and
they come of in the fray. Livestrong bands only work if your cats are small
(ours are all under 8 lbs)

afraid this will be no help, but it's funny! tried various collars with Ruff.
without fail she fools with one until it's around her waist then leaves it be.
..apparently she prefers belts!
