New Kitten

Hey all.

Well, as I said in my Xena memorial post, I got a new kitten when it
seemed like Xena wasn't coming back (and if she does by some miracle,
then hey, extra kitty!).  I remember when I got Lenny that I fed him one
to two times per day.

Looking online, I see that kittens like to be fed very little very often
during the day.  I can only ever seem to get Rogue (the new kitten) to
eat once a day.  So often I put my food out in the afternoon, pop her in
front of it, she sniffs and walks off.

I'm worried that she's not eating enough.  She was the runt of the
litter so she's small for six weeks.  Other than this, she's very
playful and healthy looking.  She sleeps as much as one would expect a
kitten to sleep, and absolutely loves to play (so much so I get
exhausted with it and foist the job onto anyone that'll help me out,
generally this being visiting nieces and nephews).

The other thing is that she likes to announce when she goes potty.  Is
this normal?  I've never had a cat do that before.  I was worried that
maybe something is wrong with her, but she does it every time and her
stool and urine seems perfectly normal (firm stool, normal coloured
urine).

Anyway, photos of my new baby up in my journal here:

Cheers,
Nancy.

My kitten is the runt of the litter, too. We put her kitten food out
both upstairs - near the litter box (which "they" say not to do) and
downstairs, both with water beside it. She has dry food, so can eat when
she wants - she doesn't eat too much, but when she chows down, she chows
down! Give your baby some time. Ours gained a pound in a few weeks and
is healthy and active. Woodgie has lots of pictures on my blog - she's
the main topic lately... :-)  http://madduxpearlman.blogspot.com/
