Hi all,

Don't really know why I'm posting here, guess I'm looking for a bit of
understanding from people who realise how much a cat can mean to a person.

Our 17yo cat was put to sleep this morning. He was diagnosed with
squamous cell carcinoma around Easter time, the original lump on his
neck was removed but inevitably grew back. Thankfully he lived a very
happy life right until the end, he deteriorated very quickly at the end.

We've had Tom since I was 9, so he was very much a part of the family,
and I'm feeling his loss quite badly right now. I know everybody's cat
is "special" in some way, but I can honestly say I have never met a cat
like him, no cat I know is as loving and affectionate as he was. People
who hated cats would leave our house with a different opinion after
meeting Tom hehe. He lived a charmed life, but he gave back way more in
return.

Love ya Tom. I'll miss your hugs.

Murray,

I understand very much how sad you are.    It is very hard to let a beloved
part of the family go.  Even when we know it is best for them.

Tom looked very content and sounded very content in the video and it is
apparent that you cared deeply for him and knew that his time was coming.

Bless you and your family for taking such care of Tom for so many years.
He may be gone physically but he will always be in your heart and your
memories.

I asked my Shiloh to show him the ropes on the other side.

Condolences. Our kitty is new and we'd be broken-hearted isf anything
happened to her. I'm sure there are other cats that will help her get
used to the other side - and we're here for you.

oh what a beautiful cat and what a purr!

so sorry to hear the bad news, but at least he lived a good life....seems
that way in the video.

my 14 year old cat died in August, we debated with the vet whether it would
be best if he was put to sleep.  the vet thought it would be best to keep
Felix at home, he was so ill and frail the likelihood was he would go to
sleep one night and not wake up.

and that's how it happened.  he died curled up at home with us and his
feline friends nearby.

Poor old Tom !
My Poupee (16 yo) left us some weeks ago and
she will welcome him beyond the rainbow bridge...

The Rainbow Bridge
(inspired by a Norse legend)

By the edge of a wood, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.

For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.

They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.

For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over. together.

Well, Murray, you came to the right place.  I am very
sorry for your loss.  There is nothing that can fill
that space for a while...the emptiness is where
you hold the memories.  I am glad you have that
video.  I have no videos of any of my cats that have
passed away.  It must be of some comfort.

What a very loving cat, and what a very happy
cat he seemed in the video.  A good life.

Please join us here and also in rec.pets.cats.anecdotes
and tell us some great stories about Tom.  We love
to share stories and it is a very friendly group.  (Most
of the time!)

Also, if you would like to visit rec.pets.cats.communities,
where the cats speak to each other directly, you can
witness and attend the Jellicle Ball, held in honour
of the cats we have known and lost over the years.
It starts from the full moon of October, and this year's
ball is still ongoing.

Hi, Murray.

I understand what you're going through.  My little girl, Xena, recently
went missing and hasn't returned, and I can only assume that she's dead.
I'm going through terrible grief right now, and I have to wonder if
I'm going mad!

So you're not alone.  My thoughts are with you.

Cheers,
nancy.
