At 7 months she is still very much a kitten. It is instincts telling her to
practice being a predator. She will eventually outgrow this behavior.

She is getting over excited and the bite is a warning to stop. You probably
are missing the warning signs such as use of claws the ears folding back
the quick movement of the tail

I agree. She is getting over excited. You need to not let her do this to
you or she will learn the behavior and may do it even when she isn't over
stimulated. Trust me...I have a couple scars to prove it! Look for the
warning signs, such as ears being bent back, tensing up her body, pupils
dilating. My cat also sits with her paws ready to strike all of a sudden
when she's had enough. When you see the signs get up and move away from
her. That will hopefully help her associate your leaving with her bad
behavior. Chances are that she doesn't realize it's wrong. So, to just
discourage the behavior all together, obey the warning signs and leave her
be when she starts looking like she wants to attack. Also, if she does
attack, especially unprovoked, leave her and ignore her for a bit. That
will help reduce the behavior.

That is like so observant. I've noticed the same things but never put them
together so well.

Seriously, it is kind of a gift to be able to interact so closely with cats,
or any animal, imo.

Ok It looks a little weird when you posted it. I was trying to make sure
it was not a poke at me ;-)
My apologies

I keep falling asleep with a kitten on my chest. I guess they think it's an
insult because they alternate between biting my nose and biting my chin.

Then they love you! 8^D
They must feel very comfortable and affectionate with you to do that.
Does this include the little she-devil? Or is she trying to pull your
nose off?8^P

Is that to say that some bites can be affectionate and not saying "Stop That!"

Well, under the circumstances, if the hyoomaan is asleep, and kitty
is coming along and biting his nose, I doubt that it's because hyooman
is doing anything that needs stopping. Seems more like playfulness
on the part of kitty who is saying "hey wake up and play with me!!"

I guess he might think I'm intentionally ignoring him.

I hope so because I'm sure I wasn't doing anything while asleep. : -)

They really are comfortable around me. They were born in this house and we
have given them lots of attention. I do think that they treat me the same as
their siblings, with the biting and like that.

She doesn't like you. No, I'm kidding. One of our new kittens likes lay next
to me, unexcited, until I fall asleep and then bite me very hard on the
finger. She doesn't let up when I pretend to be whimpering. The other cats
do. I'm not sure if we will ever be friends.

Seems like I recall somebody saying that when kittens do that to the mother, she
bats them on the head with a paw.

I"m ashamed to admit this, but I did swat her/him, not sure yet. And she ran
out of the room. It was a half-asleep reflex that I resolved to never do
again. This morning I did the same thing. This time she jumped off the bed
and was back sitting on my chest in a couple of minutes. Strange but nice.
