How easy is it to remove spaying stitches yourself? Is it something we
could do ourselves?

unless you know exactly what you are looking at, I wouldn't attempt it.  You
could open it too early, and risk infection, or you could rip open the whole
thing.

Most vets use glue now when spaying.

I definitely wouldn't try this myself.  Stitches are usually very tight, and
you could risk cutting the cat.  Pulling them incorrectly to snip the
stitches can be very painful to the cat.  You need to take kitty back to vet
for this.  It should be free of charge to get the sutures removed (provided
of course, that you are going back to the same vet who performed the spay
surgery).

I had my 2 females spayed recently and the vet told me the stiches
would dissolve after awhile and I didn't need to do anything

I can not for the life of me remember taking my cat back to the vet to have
stiches out when she was spayed, I am glad you brought it up.  I have taken
my own stitches out a couple of times which is easy, best to follow the
advice of the vet I would say.

A vet acquaintance of ours who lives in a different city suggested we do
it and told us how.

We have decided to take them to the local vet to get done.

The thing that worried me is that the animal rescue organization we got
them from didn't tell us about the stitches. The cats were spayed over a
month ago. It's just now that they have relaxed around us that we have
noticed the stitches.
