I have a three month old kitten whom I have gotten both a catnip ball
and catnip scented scratching board for. She turns into a complete
psycho after being near the catnip and has to be seriously restrained.
she calms down after a bit, but it's worse than a bagful of squirrels
for a while. Anybody know when/ if catnip is safe to let a kitten have?
Thanks.

I don't know what the official answer is to that, but I can only
tell you my own experience has been to wait until the cat is
about a year. I'm probably not making any informed decision
there, but just felt intuitively that I probably wouldn't let
a hyooomaaaan child catch a buzz until he was at least
age of majority, hahah.

catnip is safe. Some cats react stronger than others. I have cats that
have no interest in it, I have some that love it. I used to have a cat that
would get violent on it. He loved it so much, that he was afraid I was
going to take it away from him.
I am not sure what you mean by "has to be seriously restrained." Are you
afraid she is going to harm herself or someone else? If that is the case,
you might want to consider keeping it away from her, but if she just has the
cat crazies, then let her have her fun.
