I made the mistake of rushing the little black one (I'm called her Freya
for the time being.) and get well scratched for my efforts. The other
one (Mogwai for now) was fine to lie down and be scratched gently.

All in all it didn't go too badly.

Did you bring toys? A toy on a string (a fishing pole type of toy) can lure
skittish cats out of their shell.

No, Freya is seriously scared. She spent the whole time with her head
dug under one of the other kittens. I'll bring a toy tomorrow when I visit.
