In Nature, does the father-cat look after the babies or  is just the mommy?

So... it is like a marriage.. does the daddy cat look after the kids
...or does he just get mommy pregnant then disappear?

IME, usually the latter.  However, when I adopted two young kittens last
year, my older male clearly took over "parenting" duties.  He still grooms
them and corrals them at times.

I took in three red tabby kittens at nine weeks - it wasn't long
before they discovered that Tigger (obese middle-aged neutered male)
would groom them, cuddle them, and generally be as much a surrogate
mother as he could, and that Spooky (elderly neutered male) was also
willing much of the time.  They are twenty-three weeks old now, and
still cling to Tigger and Spooky.
