how, how, how do you do it?
A while back I've found three kittens (about 4 months old) and I've
been crying since. I got then TNR. I went over to feed them often.
They are semi-feral (they would let me touch them because they know I
feed them now, but are not openly friendly). I tried to find rescue
places to take them.. they have no room, I tried, I tried to do
anything and everything. Until I finally got used to the idea that
they were meant to be feral and at least found that someone else in the
neighbor close to them was feeding cats.
I finally found a home for one. I took him to his new momma this
morning. She has a small place, with a huge yard and a beautiful
calico cat that is an indoor-outdoor cat. She promised to take good
care of the kitty. So why am I so heartbroken?
I cried all the way there and back and I am still so worried. Why? He
is going to have a home, a warm place in winter, a meal every day.
Love, friendship, play.
I am praying that he doesn't sneak out before he is domesticated and
just take off and get lost. I would never forgive myself!!
There, I needed to let that off my chest.

awe. i'm sorry. my friend had to give up one of her cats to the shelter
because she just could barely afford to feed her family at the time, let
alone a cat as well. but you know that he will have a good home, and it's
better for him so he's not as likely to go out and produce unwanted kittens,
and he'll probably have a long and happy life. just keep that in mind. : )

as a rescuer, I can tell you it isn't easy. I foster baby kittens for the
local shelter, and you get attached way too fast.
I worry that it will take the new owners too long to realize the unique
needs of each kitten. The ones that are "normal" kittens I don't worry
about as much as those who were feral, or those who were sick, or like the
one I have at the moment with no tail, so he has a hard time totally
evacuating his bowels, so I have poop around the room he is in.... every day
I go on poop hunts. Who is going to want him? I worry.
Which is how I ended up with six cats, and how a friend who also does rescue
ended up with 12.
I dont think his new mom would mind if you called in a few days to check up
on him.
