I just found a baby kitten in my front yard he was living in the sewer but
once I let him stay in my house overnight he kept coming back so we decided
to keep him. We took him to the vet and they say he is about 3 months old.
The only thing is when I kiss the top of his head and his neck he purrrs and
then starts licking and biting my neck at first it was cute well it still is
but sometimes he bites really hard my mom said I shouldnt let him do that
because it looked like he was trying to break through the skin. IS THIS A WAY
OF HIM SHOWING HIS AFFECTION OR IS IT HIM BEING TOO AGGRESSIVE? SHOULD I LET
HIM CONTINUE DOING THIS BECAUSE IT DOESNT BOTHER ME.

Yep, he's about three months old. Most of them outgrow this: my five
month old kittens hardly ever do anything like that now.

Since he is doing it when you are kissing him, he is most likely trying to
suckle, as a kitten might do as its mother cleans it. Or its teething.
I don't think it is agressive at all. He simply thinks your its momma. Either
way, keep some kind of teething toy to handy and put it between your neck and
the cats teeth when needed.

The best way to determine if he should do it? Ask yourself do you
want a full grown cat doing this? If not say firmly no. He'll
eventually get the idea. Also try letting out a loud noise when he
bites, he'll get the idea it hurts eventually.

well, sometimes accidents happen...my declawed cat does the same
thing..She came declawed..<sigh> You mgiht try that when she is with
making sure your attention is soley on her, don't let your mind
wonder...if you think she's going to you might try having her play wiht
a wand toy (you know the gone fishing thing) the trick is to distract
before...I'm not sure if cats teeth or not...so you might also try the
cold rag trick they use on dogs or put a cat toy in the freezer..(I've
always had adult cats so I don't really know) Wand toys can be used to
leash train cats and that again gives the cat something for you to do
together if you can distract her...with such tactics..<grin> And
sometiems it might mean leave me alone...which if thats the case you
might try shooing her away when you since she's about to do it...I
don't worry about my cat nipping very much because seh has her
shots..and usually doesn't break skin..if you give them something
consturctive to do with their time it just seems to work better...but
thats just my thoughts...and I've never delat with kittens just adult
cats.. I do that on purpose I like to know what their temperament is
going to be....you might want to discourage licking to since you what
it leads to <grin> But its one of those compromise/do what you feel is
necessary type things...-Kenda
