We have one in our neighborhood that we feed. I wanted to find a
cathouse to put outside to keep him from the cold. (not that is going
to freeze this winter in Miami). I need a house that I can hide in the
front bushes and that would be attacting to a cat who has probably
never had one.
Any ideas, please let me know. Something that wont put "me" on the
poor house. :)
You can make one if your handy for about $30

I am posting from the UK but we got these tent like things which can be
compacted. They can be used for transporting a cat also. The one I had was
designed so plenty of fresh air could get in and cat could look out.
Basically a tent for a cat, but what about an old pet carrier or a dolls
house. My tom cat goes out all night and then sleeps under the cover of a
neighbours motorbike which he keeps outside his front door.

Since you are in Miami, and won't get too much rain after hurricane
season, you can probably get away with a cardboard box about the size
to carry a TV (small one if you need to hide it in bushes) and then
line the outside of it with large trash bag material and duck tape,
and, setting it on its side over a 4 x 4 foot plank of lumber (v.
cheap) or whatever size you can fit into the bushes, and line the
"ceiling" with more trash bag and duck tape. It should be dry enough
to even lay a few old towels down. If you think there will be wind,
duct tape the open side with only two of it's flaps into an L-shaped
doorway. The box is free, the duck tape, plank and trash bags should
come to less than $10.00. Put a little dish of food in there, and he
might find it the first night. As long as no one else finds it. You
got oppossums or racoons there? If you expect windy weather, put one
or two cobblestones inside to weigh it down.

Good ideas already. If you are going to build something out of wood, you
might take a peek at this website for model ideas. I'm sure the cat doesn't
care if it is quite so fancy, but these folks know there stuff in cat
houses. Stealing a few ideas doesn't cost a thing! Whatever you do, if you
are not putting advantage or revolution or frontline on the cat, you might
consider using cedar to help with the fleas.
