Need Names For Two Female Kittens

We recently adopted two female kittens and we need names for them. They
are tiger cats, one is grey and white and the other is grey, white and
black. We have thought of "Laverne and Shirley" but our kids don't
remember the TV show. Names like "Fling and Drop-kick" may amuse the
male members of our household but the ladies of the house aren't amused
by it. Cinnamon and Spice won't work because they have no brown in
them. I didn't like the movie "Thelma and Louise" so that is out. We
have a 85 lb male chocolate lab named "Keegan" and two male cats named
Simba and Casper. We need some help naming the two new members of our
clan. Help!

We could start by what is your favorite tv show/movie?

On my Catpage there are lists of everyone who posts to the various Cat
Newsgroups [except people who have not given me their details, of
course].  There are a few hundred of them, and there are over 1000 names
of cats there.  See

       http://blakjak.com/hpcop_ad.htm

You could try looking at Dave Ratcliffe's Catnames List, with over
6000 names.  See

       http://www.microserve.com/~dave/catnames.html

Flippy has a list of cat names on her site, provided by people on the
newsgroups, with over 3500 names.  See

       http://www.flippyscatpage.com/catnames.html

There is a site called "Get a Random Cat Name" and that does just
that, with the name changing every few seconds.  Why not visit?  See

       http://www.alistair.com/catname

Another site with over 15000 names is

I remember quite a few of these people and their cats.  It seems some even
pre-date the split so long back (I could be wrong though).  I was never
bothered by the variety of conversation back then.  I remember the
******MEOW**** posts.  Now there is a group for each subject.

That was before I had Zak, before I lost Topper.  Nice memories some of
these.

OK, so much for this look back.

I know you are probably trying to be funny with the names you suggested, but
even joking about animal abuse when there are kids are around is completely
inappropriate.  I say this as someone who does a lot of kitten rescue, and
with concern, not admonishment.

As for coming up with names, I like this site..

I would point out around here the first thing I think of when I hear
the name Drop Kick is Doug "Drop Kick" Flutie, the backup quarter back
for the Three Time Super Bowl champion Patriots did a drop kick in his
last game before retiring.   The first drop kick in about 40 years,

As a quatertback who won a number of years ago with a Hail Mary
pass it was the perfect way for Flutie to end his career.

My kids are 17 and 18. Their opinions have been formed many, many years
ago. To make you feel better they love animals, we have four cats and a
dog. Our new kittens were rescued sisters and they are doing very well.
My kids also have a sense of humour. The thought may bring a chuckle
but witnessing abuse would bring intervention and any of them abusing
animals is impossible. Sincerely, Rob

From web comics:

Ditto and Chance (no longer available)
Impy and Aevy  (<http://impy.aorange.com/index.php> - I think Aevy is
pronounced "Ivy")
Penny and Aggie (<http://www.pennyandaggie.com/>)
Nip and Tuck (http://nipandtuck.comicgenesis.com/>)
Hope and Laurie (<http://hopeandlaurie.comicgenesis.com/>)
Melody and Mandolin
(<http://www.angelfire.com/biz5/snowleopardartsent/MelandMandy.html)
Ginger and Shadow (<http://www.corbettfeatures.com/ginger.html> - does
sort of imply some red color)

[suggesting names for a pair of kittens]

> Chardonnay and Merlot

That would be particularly appropriate if the kittens were, er, uh, a bit
whiny!

And to go with the Wine names you could name the other cats Brie and
Feta (or Mozarella).

Do you remember the "Little Golden Books" for children?  A famous old
classic by the name of "The Color Kittens" is all about two little
kittens who mixed and matched paints to make all the colors in the
world.  Their names were:

"Brush" and "Hush".

There are also several wonderful female cats in Esther Averill's Jenny
Linsky books:
*Jenny Linsky
*Madame Butterfly
*Concertina
*Macaroni (male cat actually but hey)
*Dara

If it really needs to be TV personalities, try picking something from
Desperate Housewives, didn't they fight like cats sometimes?

*Catsup & Mustard (nice and sibilant for catching kitty ears)

Do your kids watch "Backyardigans"?  Tasha and Uniqua.
"Lazytown"?  Stephanie & Trixie or Pixel or Ziggy or Stingy.
Ren & Stimpy?

Do your kids read Narnia books? or movies now (sigh)....Lucy & Susan
There are some fantastic names in those books which would take ages for
me to type out....but they will be unusual if you search them out.

Better quit while I'm ahead.

How about Schwanli & Barli....the white and brown baby goats from
"Heidi"?

Sorry, I get carried away sometimes when it comes to thinking up names,
heh.  Mine are Luthien & Glorfindel (baby Glorio, according to the
kidling), both names from "Lord of the Rings".  Our cat that passed
away a couple of years ago was Zildjian Galadriel, from the same (yes &
drum cymbal company, don't ask).   8^{P>

I've always found they sort of name themselfs, don't be in a big rush to name
them just watch them for a while and you will find a name to suit their
personalities

the other Zoe. We just watched them for awhile and the names came to
us. Thanks, Rob

I would sugges to look at the behaviour of the cats. I called my two cats
"Scout" and "Storm"....scout is black and white, and I called her this
because initially she used to prowl up on everything.....and stormy..because
he was a blue russian thing, and his colour reminded me of the stormy clouds.
