JohnR66 - 07 Sep 2006 01:18 GMT I start this topic because of what my cat, Simon, just did. I'm here, sitting at my computer. I hear three rapid "meows". This is unusual so I look back through the door to see what is wrong. Simon walks in and drops a live cricket he just caught. He seemed all happy to show off his catch. I always get crickets in the house this time of year. After petting him and saying good job, he went right back to look for more. John
Matthew - 07 Sep 2006 01:22 GMT Typical cat giving his prize catch to you is the one of the greatest sign love they can do
My spirit does this all the time with kittens Ka'Shay toys every night I get all her toys in my computer / hobby room

It is quite a sight, and he insists on bringing them in the house every time. He is very proud, and I am shocked his fat little body can catch up with them!

Well I would come home from school and find the can sitting upright in the middle of the living room carpet, stony bony empty and this was a five inch tall can which, as anyone knows whose kitty was silly enough to try, will not fit a cat's head. So how was she getting the food out? And the plastic lid off, which was a good sealed fit?
After knocking it off the fridge, she would roll it from the bare kitchen floor (I finally spied on her and saw it done) with her paws into the living room where she could use the leverage of the can against the carpet to slowly push it upright. Then she would peel off the plastic lid with her paws, and start digging in USING HER PAWS LIKE A SCOOP (just like a raccoon). She would eat right out of her paws, without dropping the food, till it was empty. I have no idea if she would share with the other cat, who otherwise must have watched this performance with some dismay since she was an ordinary cat's cat who would never stoop to using her paws for anything other than swatting me.
No one ever believed me, unless I showed them, and yes, she would consistently do it even when I had a whole room full of people there just to see her do it!!

While not amazing but more humorous... One night I fell asleep on the couch on my back. Around 2 in the morning, I wake up feeling a pressure at my side. There's Simon laying on his back next to me!. John

It's like she lines up with my arm and is right on my arm or right beside it. She also will sometimes put her paw on my face when she does this and cuddle her face to my face. The one thing that is probably the most annoying and smart of her to do is to knock around her food bowl when she is hungry and it's empty. I'll be sitting in the living room watching tv and I'll hear a clanging sound. She'll stop for a minute if I tell her to hang on, but if I'm not in there in a few minutes she'll keep on hitting it around until I do come in. The thing that irks me though, is that she'll make noise until I go in there and put her food in and then she leaves. It's like she wants to make sure she has a snack for later when I'm in bed :)

Some years back I adopted Vladimir from a shelter after I finally convinced them to let me have him as they had classified him as mean and unadoptable. Vladimir quickly became an incredibly affectionate beastie. Vlad's main oddity is that he always slept with me but only snuggled up in my left armpit. The right armpit simply wouldn't do!

Austin, Texas ..... taliesinsoft@mac.com I've had four cats that did exactly the same thing....left armpit, not right. And I had them all at different times, so it's not as if they learned the habit from each other. Maybe my left armpit smells better!

I swear the both of them were even snoring! He looked pretty flabbergasted when we showed him, too. The reason we needed evidence was that our father avowed that he had wanted nothing to do with a cat and was possibly one of the most *un*-cat-people you ever met in your life, so that the picture was..........
...priceless.

He jumps up and wants fed. If I don't get up right away, he taps my face with his paw (no claws) to get me moving. John
