My cat is almost 21...she has lived a long happy life. She has slowed down
in the last week. Now she seems paralyzed and cant stand up with out falling
over. She has lost weight and we put her in the house where it is cool so
she ant be comfortable. I know the time mite be here. I went through my
denial stage last few hours....held her in my arms and kept telling her I
love her and thank you for 21 years of happiness and love. she looked me
straight in the eyes and I choked up and broke down. She then put her paw on
my face and meowed. I am crying as I write this. I am trying to be strong. A
few hours later I was taking her to the vet. And she could not take the heat
and was going in to some kind of shock in the car. She defecated and begin
salivating from her moth and anus.
I then figured taking her to the vet would just worsen things. I don't want
to see her suffer so I made a small bed for her where she is resting
motionless. She gets up and can make it about 3 feet before she falls over.
I do not believe in eutonizing an animal unless there is an accident or
extreme danger. Am I doing the right thing by letting her go to sleep? she
does not seem like she is suffering much, she is just resting.
I am going to break down again I just know it.....
Please tell me what I should do....I love her very much.....we have been
through so much ..
Please advise.....

Take her to the vet ASAP. They can put her down painlessly and end her
suffering. Sorry you're going through this sad time.

Steve When it is time you know that in your heart. I have tears in my eyes
for you as I write this.
I wish I had the words to whisper in your ear to let you know it is the
right thing and everything will be alright.
I wish there was a way to let you know the right thing to do.
I wish there was a way To give your a shoulder to lean on.
All I can do is offer you my words. You know when it is time you don't want
your friend to suffer. It is the hardest decision you can make but remember
this is you friend and you don't want your friend to suffer.
But before you do anything you need to talk to the vet to make sure it is
nothing that you can do for your friend before the time comes. You never
want the doubt to be there.
Make sure you tell your friend that your love them
The pack is sending purrs and hugs for you in your time
<tears are flowing>

Steve,
It sounds like the time may have come to make that most-dreaded of
decisions. Your cat has lived a long, happy life and has given you many
years of pleasant memories. Please reconsider your idea of not
euthanizing -- at this point, you will be placing a beloved and trusting pet
to needless suffering but no quality of life. You need to do one of two
things -- either get to the vet ASAP for evaluation (and be ready to
euthanize, if necessary) or call and see if the vet will come to your home
(which many vets will do, especially if this is someone you have used
regularly). Any panic your cat feels in the car is minimal compared to the
excruciating hours or days you could be subjecting her to if you do not make
this decision.
I have had to make this decision twice. It was a difficult, heart-breaking
decision -- but I considered it to be a final gift of love. It was painful
for me, but my cats' pain ended. I also held each one while the injection
was being made. Again, hard for me, but it helped my furbabies to know they
were held and loved.
You have my deepest sympathies. This is a horrible decision to face, but it
must be made if you and the vet agree that there is no way to prolong her
life to a *quality* time.

The best thing to do is have your cat "put to sleep"
It's very sad...but there is no sense in having your cat suffer for just a
few more hours or days

I have 4 cats now, but have had many dogs in my lifetime and one
that I was especially close to, and when the time comes it is never
easy. I had a Vet. tell me once that when you are ready the dog or cat
will be ready. They are very sensitive to you feelings and needs. They
don't want to leave you as much as you don't want them to leave. But I
think the best thing for you to do right now is what you are doing keep
you cat comfortable. Let it have a bed to sleep in with a little food
if he can eat and stay close to him. That is the best thing that you
can do for him. I don't feel that you should try to take him to the Vet
right now. But if you called your Vet and asked for advice, I'm sure
that they would be able to give you some. I feel really bad as I write
this to you, because I know what you are going through. But remember
one thing, just remember the good times that you had with your cat and
the happy times that you cat gave you, and everything will fall into
place. I wish you luck and hope that everything will be okay. Even
though I know that it is a hard thing to go through. take care and
remember one thing, you will see your cat again and when that time
comes he will be like he was when you first got him. So I'll Sign off
and you take care!

Are you for real or some kind of troll or just a complete idiot ?!?!?!
You were taking her to vet because she was sick but took her back home
because she got worse?!?!?
You do not want to hear what I would really like to say !!!!

Call a vet and request they do a home visit. She'll be able to die at
home. Please be there for her now that she needs you the most.

Your right. Cats hide away when its time to go and taking her to the
vet to be put down is hard. If one will come home thats better. If she
seems to be not suffering but just going into a coma then seems to me
that the most humane thing is to let her go at home surrounded by those
who love her but not intruded on by a nasty world amd people and things
that frighten her.
luck to you both for a quiet & calmending.

Please take your cat to the vet. Cats can be very stressed and in pain
without showing it.
I wish you strength in what is a difficult time for you.
