That seems to depend on several things, among them, the age and health of the cat, but especially on how stimulating the environment is. One of mine sleeps up to 22 hours aa day - he's old and in only fair health. Some of the others seem to be awake at least 4-6 hours, morning and evening, pretty much when I'm home and awake.
