I bought one of these http://www.arcatapet.com/item.cfm?cat=10459
clip-on blinkers for the cat so he could be more easily seen when
walking outside at nighttime but on the first night he wore it, he
arrived on the bed at 2am all lit up like a disco. I had to turn it
off, he lit up the room so brightly. It's great to wear jogging at
night.
So now I am thinking about ordering one of these collars with the
flashing lights built in:

.

Has anyone tried one on their pet? Was it too bright at night?

Holy sh.t they beat us to it.  I have a friend who was trying to get a
patent to do this.
Now I know why it was taking so long.  Maybe we still can beat them to the
US market

I bought one several years ago at an airport - I think you missed the boat.

Ah - the one I got was simply something you turned on and attached to
the collar - or luggage.  I got it before I had my cat - I'm sometimes
attracted to shiny or flashy objects.

Now that I think about it, I wonder how cats would react to such a thing
hung around their neck.

I don't know anything about this type, but a cat should not wear any collar
other than one that easily *pulls apart* (many are made for that specific
purpose).  A cat could become entangled and possibly even strangled unless
the collar releases easily.

my cat once hung himself on a tree branch, he was rescued by a great
neighbor just in time, but he was unconscious. They revived him with some
booze rubbed on his nose!

If they are let out they need break-away collar with ID tags.

My cat of 19 years won't keep a collar on, he likes to go nude but then he's
an indoor cat, except when he basks on my third floor apt balcony.

A friend of my brother when he lived in San Diego lived on the 4th or
5th floor of an apartment building and had a cat let liked to lay on
the railing and soak up the rays until one day he fell off and fell to
the ground.  The guy ended up putting him down because of his
injuries.

Whether it was put down because the injuries were so severe or he
could not afford the vet bill I am not sure but the results are the
same!!
