Kitty with leather fetish

I have a two year old kitty that likes to chew on our leather shoes. I have a
Dooney & Burke that she enjoyed too. We are wanting leather furniture. I
really don't want to give her up, but I don't want to spend out a lot of
money on furniture that will be chewed up. I have found plenty of threads
about clawing, but not chewing.

Has anyone tried the repellants out on the market? I don't know if I should
try a spay, one of those ultrasonic things or scat mat.

Please advise.

Thanks in advance.

Would you like to rephrase your post  specially about the part of "We are
wanting leather furniture. I really don't want to give her up, but I don't
want to spend out a lot of money on furniture that will be chewed up."

For if you don't rephrase the post most people are going to take it and or
flame you for being materialistic and petty  specially when it comes to the
welfare of a furball

I am not starting anything but when I  read that  was my exact thoughts.
Just wanted to give you a warning in advance

I didn't mean to sound that way. I don't know how to edit my original post.
My main objective with the post was to find out about the repellants. Do any
of them work? The sprays versus the ultrasonic devices?

Trust me, I have a major love for kitties. I had one for 21 years.

Thanks!

One thing that I must point out. My best friend has been begging me for this
cat. She wants to take her home badly. That is the only way that I would
giver her up. Only to someone i know will take as good care of her as I would.
I would never send her to a shelter.

Thanks Matthew for pointing out that my post sounded that bad. I didn't
realize it at first. After reading how people bash others and jump to
conclusions is wrenching.

Back to my question, does anyone know what I should use to repelle her?

Now that was much better   You saw what I meant in other post :)

There are several repellant that you can get from pet stores  one is called
bitter apple if I am correct

They make pet guards for furniture.

With leather furniture I would be more worried that the furball will scratch
than chew  for some reason they love the feel of leather

well corrected :)

Kitties are supposed to hate the smell of citrus too.  You could find a
citrus spray that might help.

the question would be, would the cat go out of its way to chew something
that huge and large, that would be hard to wrap fangs around.  You could
offer something acceptable for the kitty to chew on to hopefully keep it off
the unacceptable chewing stuff.  (ok, that just sounds bad, but you know
what I mean)

Thanks for the replies. I bought some of that stuff call Boundary in a pink
can. It didn't seen to work. But I will try the two you all recommended.
Hopefully she won't bother with the furniture. She really enjoyed my leather
purse, but it is way much smaller for ther to chew on.

I thought about the claws too. I haven't really had problems with her clawing,
mainly the chewing. She loves my husband's boots.

Ginger:

Have you thought of getting a few rawhide dog chews or pig ears? These
might quell (or aggravate) the craving. Or she might just grow out of
it altogether.
