Does anyone know of safe and unappealing houseplants to have around
housecats. They seem to eat every plant I have, even the artificial ones?

I know what you mean, and I really can't help with this one.  (Note to self:
I often  wonder why people bother to reply and then just say "can't help.")
Holly will eat *anything* that is alive or *used* to be alive (like dried
plants).  A friends once brought a small potted rose bush as a gift.  We sat
around talking for about five minutes, then I looked into the kitchen -- and
there was Holly munching on the rose bush!  I finally gave up and bought
some really nice artificial plants.  No, they're not the real thing but
these do not have that "fake" look.  I "may" be able to help a little with
the artificial plants, though.  I found that Holly (and sometimes Duffy)
will chew on artificial plants if they have a "grass-like" or "palm-like"
texture.  Most of them are safe if I get broad-leaf or ivy types of
artificial plants.  It also helps to get the fairly stiff, "polished" or
shiny-textured plants.

I do have a big backyard, so I can enjoy plants out there.  Ah, well, my
furbabies are more important than plants.

lol.  I can't help either.  I will reply and say that if there has been no
replies just so the OP doesn't feel ignored.

My friend has six cats, and she got a nice spikey cactus bowl.. cats LOVE
it.. they rub their little faces all over it for a good scratch..

How about you just grow some nice cat nip and let them have at it.  Chances
are since you will let them eat it, they won't want to :D

Hi Mike. Here's a link: http://www.cfa.org/articles/plants.html

Yes, some houseplants are deadly or bad for kitty. I have three kitties
and about 200 orchids. They ignore the orchids (unless one wiggles in
the breeze--could be an airbourne mouse), but they devour fern fronds
if they have a hairball and need to barf up a hairball. Cat grass is
sort of the same thing--chomp it down and throw up the hairball.
