First, males are neutered, not spayed. Only females are spayed. I have a
female that was spayed at about 6 months old and her personality and
appearance have not changed. I am not an expert, but it I believe that I've
read somewhere that it is actually a positive thing for the females to be
spayed. I don't have a male cat, so I don't know anything about the effects
of neutering. But, at any rate, it is the responsible thing to do just in
case they are outdoor cats or ever get out. We don't need any more stray
pets running around without homes.
