-- A series of a few questions--
i`ve been taking care of these kittens and the mom for a few days. She
doesn't mind my presence, and she comes around and rubs me when she eats and
what-not. I followed her to the back of the room where her kittens are a few
minutes ago. She layed down..and they crawled on her to sleep. I noticed one
kitten is bigger than the other 5. She's like...huge...for a kitten only born
a few days ago. I thought she was just fat or something...i don`t know what
to think of it. Is it that she's just chubby? She seems happy and healthy
though.
Also, when i come down the stairs to come and feed her, she's sitting on the
bottem step looking up. When i start to come down...she hisses...but when i
show her i have food..she meows loudly. And she gets all excited when i come
down the stairs, and she rubs against me. Why does she switch moods like that?
The basement their in is mine, and not public..one of the kids next door
kicked it open. Now there's a hole where she got in. Where she's laying is
comfortable for her...but i`m worried about the kittens getting older and
falling..because it's a drop from where they are (considering how tiny
they`ll be..and definetly playful), but i`m not willing to get bit from
momcat cause i moved them somewhere safer (and she's had no shots). Should i
leave them?
Lastly, i put a box with a blanket in the front room (to which i don`t think
the mom even looked at)..this morning i found dirty paw prints in it..and one
of the carpets was messed up...and i know i didn't do it..and she has two
little scratch marks on her forehead...above her right eye. Hardly visible
but there...my mom thinks it's the daddy of the kittens...but whatever came
in took a load off in the box...now she won`t even look at it. Don`t know
what happened down there..but she fought someone off...but she's not
seriously hurt.
Sorry for the long story and the questions, i`m just stuck..
thanks a lot! =]

You need to board up the hole in your wall to keep out pests, for your
family's safety as well as the cats'. If she had to fight something off and
got scratched in the process, that's the first thing I'd do. Even if it's
just a couple pieces of plywood, which is very cheap, lightly nailed in
place that's a good thing. You don't want more stray animals taking shelter
there. I know it's your parents' house, but something needs to be done.

I wouldn't worry about the bigger one unless you see obvious signs that
something is wrong. It is quite common that one kitten of the group to be
bigger. I have a runt in my current litter that looks like 1/2 lb less than
its siblings, and its only 2 ounces.
Id close up the hole in the door too.
If you can pat her after providing food, you can move the kittens. Chances
are she'll move them somewhere else, but hopefully it won't be someplace as
risky as where they are.
as for the mood switch, she doesn't recognize you yet. but you bring food,
so you can't be all that bad. Start saying the same thing every time you
walk down to see her, and soon she'll forget about hissing at you.
