I bought one of those shedding blades at Wal-Mart eariler and I finally
had give up using it. I brought ZG out into the apartment hall and
proceded to get to work... did the hair come off I think I probably got
off at least 5 pounds until he heard a neighbors door open and bolted
back into the apartment. This is crazy and I can still just pull the
hair right off of him. This guy has more hair then the hairest animal!

Do you think it's inhumane to stop letting him sleep with me in my
bedroom? These $2 wal-mart sheet sets (seriously) are taking their toll.

No  zeitgeist   that is not inhumane    have you ever thought of a groomer
taking  a look   maybe giving  the furball no pun intended a haircut to help
the shedding

I had a cat like that once when I was younger and lived at my dad's
house. it wasn't a huge problem for us because he was an outside cat.
But don't kick your cat out! You don't have to let him sleep with you
in your bed, just make sure he has a warm comfy spot to sleep on, maybe
with some catnip or your old clothes to make him enjoy the spot more
without you there.

Have you ever seen those Science Diet commercials that say, "Shedding
might be a sign of poor nutrition"? Well.... shedding might be a sign
of poor nutrition. I'd go to the vet and see if vitamins would help, or
maybe it's something completley different. I'd see what he reccomends.
Maybe you just have a sheddy cat. I "shed" a lot too, but don't lose
any of the thickness from my hair. Does he groom himself regularly? If
not, you may need to keep that shedding blade and work it through his
hair a few times a week, maybe that will help him slow down the
shedding in the future. You get triple kudos for keeping him if you
have allergies on top of shedding problems.

This is a little OT, but is your cat an shorthair orange or grey tabby?
I volunteer for my local animal shelter and I've noticed they can shed
worse than any other cats. It seems like black cats and long haired
cats shed the least. Or maybe it's just a coincidence.
