Ok, the cat in my basement is still there, but the kittens arn`t. I don`t
hear mewing or anything down there..and the door to the outside is still
closed. I fed her this morning and she came really close to me and smelled me.
.but she's just sitting around like she doesn't have kittens...like she's not
taking care of them...and i`m scared she disowned them....or something else
got them. Why is she doing this?

Can you contact a feral cat rescue (incidentally, many cats are not actually
feral) to assist or assess? Has mother cat had any sort of trauma that might
have led her to abandon or cannabilise her kittens? Although the door is
closed, could anyone else have had access to the kittens - sadly, it has been
known for members of the public to steal kittens from their mother.

Sorry, I've just seen your original post. Can you ask your mum or dad to
contact your local vet - he or she will have a list of animal rescue
organisations. It's very possible this cat does belong to someone but, if she
has decided to have her kittens in a basement, one has to ask what is wrong
with the existing household. If her household is noisy, has small children,
or other cats who intimidate her, she may not have felt it was safe to have
kittens there.

Also, if mum was nursing and has lost her kittens, she ought to be checked by
a vet, she may be very uncomfortable.

So I do think this needs appropriate assessment.

She may have moved the kits. OTOH, well, let's not go there. I hope
all is well.

I am getting the impression this is a public basement and that is why the
door to outside is shut or open.  If so, someone else may have done
something with the kittens.  In this case mom cat is not to blame.

See the "whew" thread above.  The kittens are fine.  I don't think it's a
public basement.  I think it's just her family's basement.  The mama
probably moved the cats because the hiding spot had been found.

Yep, saw it too late.
