I saw this, and I just hope she can keep Big Lewis inside. My Xedo has
a habit of charging the door. I always make sure the screen porch
doors are latched, but the other day, my father wasn't paying
attention and the little devil actually got outside. I caught him
easily enough, carried him back inside and then severely admonished
him (my father, not the cat). It really scared me. I don't need
excitement like that.

US law considers the cat's owner responsible for its actions?  In the UK,
cats are held to be free agents, and their owners cannot be held legally
responsible whatever the little beasties get up to ;-)

Does that hold for dogs, too?  If your dog attacks the
postman, are you not responsible?

No.  A dog is considered to be under the control of its owner.  If your dog
causes damage or injures a person or animal then the owner will be held
liable and may face criminal charges.
