We had two cats, not from the same litter, but only about 6mo apart. Annie( 4,
the older one) died suddenly. It has been a heartbreaking experience for us
all, we also have 2 dogs. Anyway my husband and I belive that two are better
then one and it is evident that Lunch, our living cat, is lonely and sad. We
are giving her lots of extra attention, but she is a very playful cat and
lets face it the dogs are just not that much fun for her, she can only
torture them for so long. It has only been a week but we just don't know when
the best time to bring a new kitten in would be. I would love any help or
suggestion someone might offer.
Thanks.

I am sorry about you. It takes time to grieve but some people it can be
soon as the next day some it is years. The only person that knows when is
looking at you in the mirror. Sorry could not be any more help

I am sorry to hear of your loss.
I agree with Matthew, when my Shiloh died I swore I would never have
another cat. Sissy has been with me now for 6 years.
Since you are also thinking of a playmate for Lunch I would suggest seeing
if you could find another cat that is used to being around other cats and
then seeing if you can get the two cats together and see how well they get
along. We brought another cat into our home and Sissy absolutely could not
deal with her while Neko did not seem to mind but did not want seem to happy
to have her around. She ended up going back outside. But when we hold her
up to the window so Sissy can see her Sissy gets very agitated, hissing and
swiping at the window. When Nora was inside Sissy would not leave the
bedroom and pooped in the bed and peed on my clothes.

It really depends on how comfortable you are with the thought of a new
addition at whatever point in time. When our Margaret died, our Millie was
left alone and obviously lonely. Still, Margaret's loss was very traumatic
for me as she had been my companion for 16 years. I thought I couldn't
bring another kitty home for a very long time. Yet, only two weeks later I
was swept off my feet by Bailey and his charm. I couldn't resist adding
him to our family. Margaret has never been forgotten, nor will she ever
be, and Bailey was not a replacement for her. Bailey needed a family and
we needed him. It ended up to be a very easy transition.

I am very sorry to hear about your loss...Cat's are such wonderful
companions.
When we lost our old WhiteCat...we cried quite a bit...
but about a month later...a freind brought a kitty over....and we
are all happy again...
I think the one month period felt right to us.\
It's been 25 years since I've raised a kitten,,,and I;ve either slowed down
a bit...
or kittens are getting faster!!!!!
