Hello! I just found your group, and have a question: Are you all in the UK or
the US? I tried to find info about where this group originates, but couldn't.

You seem to be posting via CatKB.com, which is a web site that pulls
postings from specific Usenet newsgroups, alt.cats being one of them.
But in answer to your question, we are from all over the planet (and there
may be some members that are from out of this world, if you know what I mean
:D)

In the US. But usenet is a world wide forum. So the person you
are communicating with can be from any of 182 different countries.

Newsgroups don't "originate" anywhere unless they are in a location
hierarchy. alt is universal and, like all usenet and related groups,
is distributed across innumerable servers around the world. A message
posted to one server spreads as the various servers contact each other
to share messages. Eventually, the message resides on all servers
carrying the group.
Users having conventional ISP e-mail addresses can usually be
identified by country by the country code - or lack thereof - at the
end of the address. That doesn't work with yahoo, hotmail, gmail,
etc. addresses or for users who post completely fake strings instead
of addresses (like you).
