My old girl (15) Domino is constipated.  This happened once before and the
Vet sold me a tube of some sort of meat flavored stuff.  I'm guessing it was
a petroleum jelly based laxative.

Anyway, she is not eating and vomits small amounts mucous liquid.  I'm
tempted to try and get some petroleum jelly into her or, my wife asked about
a 1 ml syringe of olive oil.  The syringe is from the cats' thyroid
medicine.

Any ideas are welcome.

Thanks...

I see petco has petro-malt, I'll pick some up tomorrow.

even though she has been constipated in the past, I would be very careful
trying to treat this at home.  cause A) she might not be constipated, she
might have a urinary problem.  Unless you are 110% sure she is peeing as she
has been, this is of great concern.  b) if she is constipated and it stays
that way for a long period of time, she could do some damage to her colon
straining to get it out.  Once the damage is done, it is next to impossible
to undo (risky surgery) and she will continue to have this issue.

If this were me, I'd get her to a vet.

I'd take her to the vet too.  If nothing is wrong, then it probably won't
cost anything.  I've taken mine to the vet a couple times just because I was
concerned and when it turned out to be nothing he didn't charge me anything.
I'd rather be sure than sorry.  If for no other reason than to maybe find
out what caused her to be constipated in the first place so that the same
conditions don't come about later.

olive oil will be digested, to treat constipation you need an oil that is
inert like paraffine-oil, but there are enough anti-hairball-products
commercially available that you can use
