Seems that Cat adoptions have been halted at PetsMart in the
Maryland area. Seems some cats adopted through them were
rabid.

From my experience with several Petsmart stores in the Phoenix, AZ area, each
store hosts various rescue groups who offer cats for adoption. Each of the
groups must have their cats vet certified to be disease free. The adoption
includes a "coupon" for a wellness visit to a vet. Adoption donations range
from $65-85 dollars.
