Hi all
One of my cats has been displaying strange behaviour since yesterday
and it's worrying me. She has been constantly mewing and seemingly
unable to pee or crap. I'm not sure which she is trying to do but she
is not successful. 15 minutes later she will try again. Obviously she
is going to the vets this afternoon but in case it's merely
constipation does anyone know of a natural constipation cure for cats?
Other than the symptoms described above she looks healthy, her coat
and eyes are good.
TIA

it might not be constipation, it might be a UTI and she is blocked, which is
DEADLY.  Blocking doesn't happen as often in females, but it can.  Get her
into a vet ASAP.

My vet once recommended adding a teaspoon of vegetable oil to my cat's food
once a day.

Please let us know what the vet says about your cat.

Does canned food help ... compared to dry food, I mean, for constipation?

I haven't really noticed a big difference.  My cats get both.  Although,
one of my younger cats gets diahhrea from certain canned foods,
particularly beef varities, which we now avoid.

You should be VERY concerned here. My last cat Zero had the same symptoms as
your cat. It turned out he had 6 bladder stones and one was blocking his
urinary tract. It was too late for anything but radical surgery and I had to
make the decision to put him down. I hope you have better luck than me.

Hi all and thanks for the advice. I would have responded earlier but I
had to go away and my partner is not computer friendly. Anyway Missy
(the cats name) is fine. Later on that day she had a crap and is back
to her normal but moany self. We gave her wet food which she loved but
made her sick. I put that down to the sudden change of food as she
normally has dried food which she is now back on. Although she is
obviously better I will still be taking her to the vet for a check up.
Thanks again.
