Anyone with experience with this item?  Would it work well on a
longhair?
thanks

I bought one from QVC.  Tried it on my short haired cat, my medium haired
cat, and my long haired cat.  Almost immediately sold it on Ebay.

What did it do or NOT do?  How did the long hair react?

Just curious or nosey, but why not return it to Q for a full refund?

I was going to return it to them, but I would have had to shell out for
shipping, and it was more profitable for me to sell it.

Cats didn't like it very much.  did not slide through the fur at all, it
grabbed, and seemed to pull.  Didn't get all that much out either.  I did
one guy got a small pile, then used my usual method, and got a boat load
more out.

Interesting! I checked the Amazon site and the vast majority of user reviews
for the Furminator were favorable. I've risked some money and ordered one and
will report back in these discussions whether I found it worthwhile or not.
So far, the best grooming tool for my Pebbles (a Maine Coon Cat) has been a
very fine tooth comb. So, we'll see!

It is supposed to pull the first time you use it.  It is removing all
the loose hair from near the skin.  Use it in small doses at first,
then it should get easier.  Be sure to cut all the mats off first,
since it won't comb through them.

Everyone (groomers) I have talked to about the Furminator is raving
about it.  They love it and recommend it heartily.

I just bought a FURminator a few hours ago, and so far, I'm glad I
spent the money, although I did wince at the cost.  I've pulled out
gobs of hair from my Siamese shorthair.  I got mine at PetSmart for
about $34.  I could have gotten one online for about $23 +$5 shipping

My experience with the Furminator has been extremely positive. A few strokes
with the Furminator pulls out more loose hair than a much, much longer
session with a fine tooth comb.
