My townhome development has an ongoing problem with ants. Around this
time of year the little suckers begin to appear in the house. I was
wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a safe type of ant-killer
that would NOT be toxic to my two indoor cats, something that could be
placed at strategic points (ant trails) on the floor?
Thanks

Five? percent borax in sugar water or honey is not attractive to cats,
and can easily be placed inside some sort of tunnel. I don't put it
on the floor since the ants usually go someplace the cats either don't
or can't: I put the poison there.

Whenever ants have been a problem, I use those "self enclosed" ant traps.

Bought some ant traps once and put them on the kitchen counter where the
aunts seemed to hangout.
The cat broke into them and ate the contents. They where made of plastic.
The cat is now about 18 yr. and has been doing well. I would have never
dreamed that she would eat them or they would have been better concealed, if
that is possible with a cat that has her days free to think of ways to get
into trouble.

I used to like RAID. It was effective and long lasting, but I can't use
it anymore because my cats love it. They will find a sprayed spot and
roll in it.

For outside where the kitty isn't I use Grants ant&spider killer, it's
granules, and it wipes them out fast, I use it inside sometimes, it
doesn't smell good so my cat stays away from it, I think they know
poison when the smell it. Grants is toxic though, but it sure works
good.
