I'm fairly new to this newsgroup.   I somehow ended up with 5 feral cats.
Two are female, two are male and one I'm not sure of.    One of cats may
have been dumped because it's starting to be a little more friendly and has
only recently started coming  around.   My problem is I don't want more cats
(kittens) and I'm sure the original mother cat is pregnant.   I caught one
of females that is the most tame and had her spayed.   The cost was $230
with shots.   I really can't afford to do more and I already have 2 indoor
cats.   I've called the local shelter and they don't have a program to deal
with feral cats.   I can bring them in and you know the rest.   I live in
rural Indiana -- does anyone know of a program that could help?    I emailed
Indy feral but I've heard nothing and I'm sure they only serve Indianapolis;
I'm over 50 miles from there......

June get up on line and look for the search  phase  low cost spay and
neutering  there are organizations that do places
as get out your local advertisement like the little coupon books at gas
stations they have listings for it
230 is a lot of money should have been around $150 are at least that is the
cost here

I finally found out about a program called Neuterscooter that goes to
different towns around the Midwest and is available here where I live.   The
price is $20 for a feral cat.   Wish I had known about before spending the
$230 but at least I can still save the others.....

You also need to check with your government associations there are sometimes
programs that help you out to help feral cats  and other animals  maybe
start a small shelter
