neutering cats

After having a cat neutered, how long is it safe to keep him isolated from the
ladies before releasing him.  Thanks for any and all replies, preferably those
with references.

depends on how old he is, and how much the other cats like or hate him.

if he's young and they like him, let him out and see how it goes, if they
harass him, then a day or so, if he's old, and they taunt him, then probably
a couple of days.  Neutering is fairly easy on male cats.
