these scabs scrape off but come back within an hour. i read somewhere that
cat's tears dry dark because of protein. they are never on her eyes. any help
would be appreciated.
That is odd. Are they really like scabs in that when they are scraped off
there are red spots on the skin? Are they really right under her nose or on
her chin? If they're on her chin, they may be acne. I'm not sure if acne
occurs under the nose, but my cat had acne which looked like blackheads that
did scrape off, but hers was on her chin. It was caused from bacteria on he
plastic dishes.

I would ask your vet. That's what I did for my mysterious black marks that
turned out to be acne. My vet only charged me $10 for such a little visit,
and that included the ointment he gave me. I'm not sure what it is. I know
it's not tears. Those, wouldn't come back within the hour. Maybe
allergies, but I've never had a cat with allergy problems.

My cat has been scratching his face and neck. A few months ago I took him
in to the vet and his ears were fine, no mites etc, and they thought he had
a food allergy so he has been on prescription food now. They also tested
him for ringworm and that was positive so he has been on medicine, 5 weekly
dips (at $50 a dip), and he now has tested negative so we should be done but
he is still scratching. I think they are thinking next will be a
dermatologist and allergy testing but we've already spent a fortune on his
treatment so far and I'd like to know of something cheaper. Benadryl?

I once had a cat with allergies and had to take him to a specialist. The
first visit was expensive but not so after that.
