Cats can swim, but most choose not to do it.

Siberians also not afraid of water although they wouldn't swim at will.

I had a pound cat that would swim to me in a pool

No, there is a breed that likes to swim. Yes, all cats can swim.
In addition to a water loving breed, there are many cats that don't
seem to mind being out in the rain and snow. I have seen a couple of
mine actually wade out into a mud puddle ... then come running inside
so they can jump on me and leave muddy tracks all over my clothes and
the furniture - they also shake mud off their feet onto the computer
monitor. Several others just like to come in wet and insist on being
petted in my lap ... or bed.

We have one cat who likes to join us in the shower for the duration. She
seems to love being wet.

And if we enter a room full of manure, may we believe in the pony.

There are a couple of big cats that like water.
Tigers often go into water, are pretty good swimmers and can even kill
prey in water. Usually though they go in the water just to cool off,
especially Tigers living in very hot climates like in India and South
East Asia.
Jaguars in South and Central America often frequent the water as well.
As do the Swimming Lions from the Okavango Delta in Africa. It's an
area that is often flooded because of the waterways, and the Lions
adapted to live and hunt there. I believe their coats are slightly
different to those of other Lions and they are evolving to life in
Water and on land. I think they would probably prefer to be on land
but a lot of their preferred prey go in the water so they are evolving
to do so as well.
Domestic cats don't really like water that much. Though our cat seems
to like Snow.

Mine seem to desperately want to join me in the shower so I let them in they
realize that death from above is happening and all scramble to the old lady
complaining loudly that they got wet even though they know what I am doing.
Cats makes you wonder
