Traveling with cat - by ship

I was thinking about moving to south america for several months and taking
my cat along. I'm really against the idea of flying her over (even in the
cabin) so I thought that a ship might be less traumatic for her. Has anyone
else had any experience with this? Is it even allowed? The trip would take
about 14-16 days...

Thanks...

Okay...I did a little research and have answered my own question -
"no"...there are few to no ships that allow pets onboard...So my next
question...

Flying: my cat is VERY people shy...I don't want her to have a heart attack
or freak (crying all the way there - 14 hours) out during the flight...I've
never done this so I don't know what to expect. Do cats traveling in the
cabin tend to just sleep the whole time or do they cry and want out?

your vet can prescribe a sedative for your cat. one of mine travels very
badly in a car (cries the whole time on a 10 hour trip).  one little pill
and he pretty much sleeps the whole time.  and it's perfectly safe.

Have you taken into account the possibilty that your cat may need to be
quarantined for a while when you get there?

"I meant," said Ipslore, bitterly,"what is there in this world that makes
living worthwhile?"

Death thought about it.
"Cats," he said eventually, "Cats are nice."
