A while back I posted about my cat, Mr. B. He had radioactive iodine
treatment for hyperthyroidism. Following the treatment, his creatinine
and BUN levels rose dramatically and it looked like he was headed for
kidney failure. However, I'm happy to report that he surprised us all:
his kidney values eventually returned to normal and he's recovered
nicely.

Here's a pic of the little guy, if you'd like to see how he's doing
now:

He's actually quite a big guy, and very cuddly.

Thanks for sharing! I always love a good story.  Your kitty appears to be
back to his royal feline self:)

That's absolutely wonderful news, Steve!  Mr. B looks like he's the picture
of health, and I'm sure he has many years ahead of him.

He also looks a lot like my Mr. Bailey!

He's sooooooo cute.  Can I ask what the cost was for this treatment?  I
thought that was my problem with my little Angel, but she's doing well now.
She ended up having an infection of some sort and her glands were swollen.

It's expensive at around $1600 at my location. However, that actually
begins to look pretty reasonable if you compare it to what long term
treatment with the drug tapazole would cost. The cost of repeated vet
visits, blood work and medication really adds up.

And radioactive iodine is an actual CURE for hyperthyroidism. That
really clinched it for me.

Awesome!  I'm so glad everything turned out for you and that cutie pie!
