I too live in Ottawa where the cat sanctuary is. I visit there at least
once a week. Usually I bring a bag of Temptaion cat treats with me. If
you want to see a bunch of cats coming at a run, then shake a bag of
Temptations and watch them scramble to get to you. They are all loved
very much by the man who looks after them, and they have companion
squirrels, ground hogs, and pigeons.
It was unfortunate that one time last year, someone wanted a white cat,
and decided that instead of helping out the Humane Society by adopting
on from them, that she would take the one from the cat sanctuary. Let me
tell you, the cat caretaker and the other cats were devestated by the
fact that the cat was gone. It was discovered by someone, that they knew
the person who took the cat, and it was in fact reported to the Ottawa
Police. These cats are ambassadors here in Ottawa, and are very well
looked after. They are given their needles every year by a very
reputable veterinary hospital in Ottawa. People come from all over the
world to see our cat sanctuary, and it is with great pride to tell you
that every time I visit them, I leave a donation in either the cash
donation box, or by leaving a bag of cat food for the cats.
God bless Rene for taking the time to go EVERYDAY, sun, rain, snow or
icy cold to tend the cats that he loves so much. By the way, when I
spoke to Rene, he told me that the cats help him to stay young. He is in
fact 77 years old, but he will tell you that he feels 50 most of the
time. He actually looks forward to seeing his furbabies every day, and
can tell you immediately if there is some thing wrong with one of his
charges.
Sorry for the long post, but since it was brought up, I just couldn't
help but to elabourate on it.

No, don't be sorry, most interesting. Was the white cat returned to
sanctuary? Perhaps the woman thought she was doing the right thing as
the humane society is actively trying to place cats with families
whereas she may have percieved that the sanctuary cats were worse off.

Thanks for doing so! No need to apologize at all. I think it's wonderful!
Something I might like to assist with when I retire as at this point in
time, I don't have the time.
