: ok I know this has been posted but no one has really had any clear answers
: as to what is the best canned cat food. I live in the United States and have
: just recently gotten my cats to even want to eat canned cat food.
I can't help you with a brand name, but once you take away all the canned
food with sugar in it and all the stuff that just simply costs too much,
then there won't be many brand names left.

: just recently gotten my cats to even want to eat canned cat food. They are
: dry cat food fans and walk around, nibble or only lick out the juice in most
: brands of cats foods.
That's fine, start slowly. For the time being aim for 25% canned and
75% dry, then 50-50, then 75-25 and I would stop there.
: what brands offer a super premium or just premium canned food. Do any of
: them offer FDA approved foods?
Fancy Feast, Pro Plan, Eukanuba, Iams, Nutro, Science Diet, Wellness. I
am sure there are others. You'll have to slowly figure out the golden
balance between good nutrition, affordable price, and what your cats
will actually eat.

My cat has become overweight. Partly because I left the food out at all
times and didn't monitor it and partly because she had foods with high fat
content. I'd go with science diet all around to help prevent this. My vet
doesn't like Eukanuba very much and suggested that I give mine science diet.
Mine actually gained all of her weight on Eukanuba and Iams. I was even
giving her the weight loss formula of Iams and measuring it and she gained a
pound. She's lost about 4 pounds the last couple months and only has 3 more
to go:) Science diet is good for them and it's not too expensive. I get
the smaller bag for about 6 bucks from PetSmart and it takes my one cat
almost a month to eat it all. Even if you don't need to get the weight
loss version, it still has a lower fat content than other brands.

I have one cat that's over weight and the other two are fine. I feed what is
recommended for their size and weight. I do not over feed or free feed. I
used to free feed but the one that has weight issues would be the size of my
house by now if I kept that up. He doesn't know when to stop. He eats until
there is nothing left. He used to camp out by the bowl until every morsel
was gone. He would moan over the food bowl. I got him at a year old after
his brother past away from a strange illness. We believe that his life as a
kitten is still affecting him. He was born in the wild and was a few weeks
old when found and taken from his mother. He was found with 2 other kittens,
they were covered with fleas, had ear mites and starving.
We took his brother and he lived to be 7 months old contracted a strange
illness and we fought for a month to keep him alive. He would not do
anything including walk. We humanly putt him to sleep when he stopped
purring during all this. The light had left his eyes and he was suffering.
We mourned him so much that our friend who had kept one of his brothers let
us adopt him. He is a wonder and a sweety. Though he has some health issues.
